Patch 10.04 – Balance, Bug Fixes, and Game Improvements

Last week, we revealed all of the content and new features coming with the new Battle Pass Season 13: Age of Dragons on March 18. You can check that out here. We also have a balance pass, some bug fixes, and smaller adjustments to Brawlhalla that help the game feel much better. You can read those notes below!

We’ve made a round of balance changes following the results of the Winter Championship, especially focused on the Doubles event, as well as improvements for some underused Signature attacks.

Axe

The Axe Side Air and Down Air are now slower, less damaging, and have less knockout potential for more appropriate risk and reward.

  • Axe Side Air: Increased Time to Hit from 17 to 18; Decreased Damage from 18 to 17; Decreased Force from 75 Fixed/43 Variable to 68 Fixed/41 Variable; Increased total Recover time on miss from 6 Fixed/26 Variable to 8 Fixed/26 Variable.
  • Axe Down Air: Increased Time to hit from 15 to 16; Decreased Damage of the aerial version from a range of 17~15 to a range of 15~14; Increased total Recover time on miss for the aerial version from 2 Fixed/28 Variable to 5 Fixed/28 Variable.

Chakram

We have increased the damage for Chakram Fused Side Light, Split Neutral Light, and Split Neutral Air to bring this weapon closer in line with the rate of damage on other similar kits.

  • Chakram Fused Side Light: Increased Damage from 13 to 15.
  • Chakram Split Neutral Light: Increased Damage from 10 to 13.
  • Chakram Split Neutral Air: Increased Damage from 10 to 12.

Orb

The Orb Side Light now has greater Time to Hit and the Down Light has less Stun to open some windows during strings and combos. The Orb Side Air now has less Force to bring this weapon’s knockout potential closer in line with similar kits.

  • Orb Side Light: Increased Time to Hit from 10 to 12.
  • Orb Down Light: Decreased Stun from 22 to a range of 21~14.
  • Orb Side Air: Decreased Force from 55 Fixed/42 Variable to 50 Fixed/39 Variable.

Rocket Lance

Rocket Lance’s Side Light, Neutral Air, Side Air, and Down Air have all received reductions to several properties to provide wider avenues of counterplay and less reward for attacks with such high utility. Some of this lost power has moved into extra Force for the Neutral Light.

  • Rocket Lance Neutral Light: Increased Force from 42 Fixed/45 Variable to 46 Fixed/48 Variable.
  • Rocket Lance Side Light: Increased Time to Hit from 10 to 12; Improved setup logic timing before the final hit.
  • Rocket Lance Neutral Air: Decreased Stun from a range of 29~24 to a range of 26~21; Decreased Damage from 16 to 14; Decreased the amount of allowed acceleration during all parts of this attack.
  • Rocket Lance Side Air: Decreased Force from 65 Fixed/42 Variable to 50 Fixed/40 Variable.
  • Rocket Lance Down Air: Decreased threat coverage near the user.

Sword

The Sword Neutral Air now has greater Stun for better use in strings and team combos.

  • Sword Neutral Air: Increased Stun from 18 to 20.

Bödvar

Bödvar’s Down Hammer and Down Sword are now significantly faster to allow use in a wider variety of scenarios.

  • Bödvar Down Hammer: Decreased Minimum Charge time from 15 to 12; Decreased Time to Hit after release from 10 to 7; Decreased total Recover time on miss from 30 to 26.
  • Bödvar Down Sword: Decreased total Recover time from 28 to 23; Increased Stun from 21 to 24.

Dusk

Dusk’s Side Orb and Neutral Spear now have less knockout potential to be closer in line with other similar options.

  • Dusk Side Orb: Decreased Force from 60 Fixed/53 Variable to 58 Fixed/51 Variable.
  • Dusk Neutral Spear: Decreased Force from 70 Fixed/50 Variable to 64 Fixed/48 Variable.

Jaeyun

Jaeyun’s Down Sword is now faster and has greater Force for better utility and reward.

  • Jaeyun Down Sword: Decreased Minimum Charge time from 14 to 12; Decreased Time to Hit after release from 13 to 12; Increased Force from 58 Fixed/48 Variable to 60 Fixed/52 Variable.

Kaya

We’ve reduced the Force of Kaya’s Neutral Bow, Neutral Spear, and Down Spear to bring her kit in line with other characters in team gameplay.

  • Kaya Neutral Bow: Decreased Force from 70 Fixed/53 Variable to 62 Fixed/51 Variable.
  • Kaya Neutral Spear: Decreased Force from 70 Fixed/51 Variable to 62 Fixed/47 Variable.
  • Kaya Down Spear: Decreased Force from 62 Fixed/49 Variable to 58 Fixed/46 Variable.

Mako

Mako’s Down Greatsword now has greater Force, as it previously took too long to score knockouts.

  • Mako Down Greatsword: Increased Force from 65 Fixed/40 Variable to 65 Fixed/44 Variable.

Petra

Petra’s Neutral Gauntlets now has less Force at the beginning to slightly reduce its knockout potential.

  • Petra Neutral Gauntlets: Decreased Force from a range of 95~75 Fixed/44~40 Variable to a range of 85~75 Fixed/43~40 Variable.

Sidra

Sidra’s Neutral Sword now hits sooner, and her Side Cannon can cover more distance during movement such as a dash for better use in a wider range of scenarios.

  • Sidra Neutral Sword: Decreased Minimum Charge time from 13 to 11.
  • Sidra Side Cannon: Increased the amount of allowed momentum from movement at the beginning of the charge.

Teros

We’ve slowed down Teros Neutral Hammer and Side Hammer to better match their high reward.

  • Teros Neutral Hammer: Increased total Recover time on miss from 24 to 26.
  • Teros Side Hammer: Increased Minimum Charge time from 12 to 15.

Ulgrim

Ulgrim’s Neutral Axe, Side Axe, Down Axe, and Side Rocket Lance have received an array of reductions to their speed and knockout potential to bring his kit in line with other Legends in team gameplay.

  • Ulgrim Neutral Axe: Decreased Force from 59 Fixed/51 Variable to 54 Fixed/48 Variable.
  • Ulgrim Side Axe: Decreased Force from 62 Fixed/51 Variable to 57 Fixed/49 Variable.
  • Ulgrim Down Axe: Increased Minimum Charge time from 14 to 19; Decreased Force from 65 Fixed/50 Variable to 58 Fixed/47 Variable; Increased total Recover time from 26 to 29.
  • Ulgrim Side Rocket Lance: Increased Minimum Charge time from 12 to 18; Decreased Force from 70 Fixed/50 Variable to 60 Fixed/47 Variable.

Xull

Xull’s Neutral Cannon and Down Axe now hit sooner for more reliable use in the neutral game.

  • Xull Neutral Cannon: Decreased Time to Hit from 18 to 16.
  • Xull Down Axe: Decreased Minimum Charge time from 14 to 12.

Yumiko

Yumiko’s Neutral Bow and Down Bow now hit sooner for more reliable use in the neutral game.

  • Yumiko Neutral Bow: Decreased Minimum Charge time from 14 to 11.
  • Yumiko Down Bow: Decreased Minimum Charge time from 11 to 7.

Zariel

We’ve reduced the speed, knockout potential, and evasiveness of Zariel’s Neutral Gauntlets, Side Gauntlets, and Side Bow to bring their kit in line with other Legends in team gameplay.

  • Zariel Neutral Gauntlets: Increased total Recover time on miss from 23 to 26; Decreased Force from 54 Fixed/50 Variable to 54 Fixed/48 Variable.
  • Zariel Side Gauntlets: Decreased Force on the main target from 60 Fixed/50 Variable to 58 Fixed/48 Variable; Decreased Force of the punch on secondary targets from 45 Fixed/45 Variable to 45 Fixed/40 Variable; Increased total Recover time on miss from 25 to 28.
  • Zariel Side Bow: Increased Minimum Charge time from 11 to 13; Reduced the distance and speed that Zariel recoils after shooting the arrows on hit; Increased total Recover time after releasing the arrows on hit from 22 to 25.

Localization

  • UI Themes have been renamed as “Insignias”!
    • These refer to the bundles that customize your Nameplate, KO-plate, and Scoreplate.
  • The Gadget in Oddbrawl has been redesigned and is now called a Necro Ball.
  • Fixed a spelling mistake. Space Race Cassidy’s Hammer now has the proper spelling: Satellite Smash

Gameplay

  • Modified Rupture’s Katars Down Signature effects to better communicate the attack’s threat.

Performance Improvements

Maps

  • Western Air Temple
    • We’ve fixed several performance issues on Western Air Temple that were causing consistent and frequent frame skips.

UI

  • MOBILE: Optimized the Guilds Menu screen

Bug Fixes

Power Rankings

  • Fixed a bug where some players were being skipped in the Esports power rankings table when sorting through multiple pages.

Missions

  • Fixed an issue in the Event Center where mission tooltips were not displaying properly after rerolling a Battle Pass mission

UI

  • The button that says “View Test Features” has been visually updated.
    • The text now fits on this button across all languages.

UX

  • The “Copy Room Number” button is no longer visible during Map select.
  • Fixed a bug that caused players to not be able to return to the main menu when opening the Guilds Menu with the store open.
  • STEAM DECK: Fixed several visual bugs on the “redeem code” screen causing the wrong keyboard popups to show up.
  • SWITCH: Fixed the Event Center’s back button which didn’t have a proper hover behavior.

Gameplay

  •  Fixed a bug on the World’s End Kung Foot Map where the ball would be hit-able in the ceiling while respawning.
