Wu Shang’s Ascension – Patch 9.10

Wu Shang’s Ascension – Patch 9.10

His Enlightenment led to his Ascension, and his Ascension looks GOOD. The second of many Legends to Ascend– Ascended Wu Shang’s Mythic Skin, Trail Effect, KO Effect, Animated Sidekick, and Emoji Skin show that inner peace can bring balance to the battlefield as effectively as any other source of power. With the addition of Ascended Wu Shang we’ve also added a Trail Effects selector to the podium! On top of all of that, be sure to log in during the first week of the Wu Shang’s Ascension Event to claim the “Spirit Cultivator” in-game Title!

The Traveler has found his ultimate belonging. With his ascension into Valhalla, Wu Shang has achieved true enlightenment. This Mythic Skin shows what that enlightenment looks like. With the ability to wield Gauntlets without touching them, and with his Fu Dog spirits protecting him, there is no challenge he can’t face.

Ascended Legends are their final forms, the ultimate embodiment of their archetypes as history’s greatest warriors, with everything you need to embody this ascended form.

As a Mythic Skin, Ascended Wu Shang includes custom qi infused visual FX on his Skin & Weapon Skins, visual FX and sound swaps for his Light and Signature Attack kit, a custom lock-in animation, and a roster portrait swap featuring his new splash art. As another bonus, when Wu Shang equips his Gauntlets, his qi allows him to wield them without touching them. His lack of physical attachment extends not only to his Gauntlests, but to the ground as well. While equipped with Gauntlets, Ascended Wu Shang floats when he Dash runs.

But wait, there’s even more! Ascended Wu Shang also includes a Trail Effect: Echoes of Balance, and completing the kit for the Traveler’s homecoming are his loyal Fu Dog Guardians: Jinyin (Sidekick), Yunyun’s Protection (KO Effect), and a new animated Emoji Skin: Ascended Wait. And yes, you can also pet Jinyin.

Wu Shang is the second ever Ascended Legend, but many more Legends will get this treatment in the future.

Ascended Wu Shang Includes:

  • Ascended Wu Shang– Mythic Skin
  • Echoes of Balance – Trail Effect
  • Yunyun’s Protection – KO Effect
  • Jinyin  – Animated Sidekick
  • Ascended Wait – Emoji Skin

This round of balance narrows the range between the highest and lowest expected rate of damage between most weapons. Some attacks have received adjustments to their threat coverage or Recover time to allow for easier interruptions during team gameplay. A number of Legends have also received increases or decreases to the reward of specific Signatures to bring them closer in line with other similar options. This patch also contains Ransom’s first set of balance changes, marking him legal for use in official tournaments.

Axe

We have decreased the Force at the beginning of Axe Recovery to bring its knockout power to a more appropriate level when used in team combos. We have also decreased the movement allowed during Axe Down Air to provide a wider avenue of counterplay against this versatile attack.

  • Axe Recovery: Decreased Force from a range of 75~50 Fixed/53~22 Variable to a range of 70~50 Fixed/50~22 Variable.
  • Axe Down Air: Decreased the maximum speed and amount of allowed acceleration during the attack, especially in the backwards direction.

Battle Boots

We have increased the Damage of Battle Boots Neutral Light and Neutral Air to bring this weapon’s expected rate of damage closer to the middle of the pack. We have also decreased the threat coverage and increased the Recover time on miss for Battle Boots Side Light to allow for easier interruptions and punishment.

  • Battle Boots Neutral Light: Increased Damage from 12 to 13.
  • Battle Boots Side Light: Slightly decreased threat coverage at the forward edge of the attack; Increased total Recover time on miss from 6 Fixed/15 Variable to 9 Fixed/15 Variable.
  • Battle Boots Neutral Air: Increased Damage from 11 to 12.

Blasters

Blasters Side Light now has slightly less Stun to open a minimal Dodge Window between follow-up attacks, but slightly increased Damage to offset this loss.

  • Blasters Side Light: Decreased Stun from a range of 24~18 to a range of 23~17; Increased Damage from 10 to 12.

Bow

Bow Neutral Light now has slightly greater Damage to bring this weapon closer in line with the new narrower range of overall weapon damage. We have slightly decreased the threat coverage of the on-hit arrow shots of Side Light, Neutral Air, and Ground Pound to allow for easier interruptions during team gameplay. The Down Light now has slightly greater threat coverage on the ground splash to allow for more reliable use after setup attacks like the Side Light.

  • Bow Neutral Light: Increased Damage from 14 to 15.
  • Bow Side Light: Slightly decreased vertical threat coverage of the arrow shot on hit.
  • Bow Down Light: Slightly increased threat coverage at the ground splash.
  • Bow Neutral Air: Slightly decreased horizontal threat coverage.
  • Bow Ground Pound: Decreased threat coverage of the arrow shot on hit.

Cannon

We have decreased the Damage of Cannon Down Light to bring this weapon closer in line with other combo starters and the new narrower range of overall weapon damage. We have also increased the Force of Cannon Neutral Air to bring the knockout power of this weapon to a more reasonable level on tall maps, and to offset some of the lost power the Down Light provided towards a knockout.

  • Cannon Down Light: Decreased Damage from 13 to 11.
  • Cannon Neutral Air: Increased Force from 35 Fixed/53 Variable to 38 Fixed/54 Variable.

Chakram

The Chakram Split Neutral Air and Down Air now have greater Stun to provide tighter Dodge Windows for more reliable follow-up attacks.

Hammer

We have decreased the Damage of Hammer Side Light, Neutral Air, and Side Air to bring this weapon closer in line with the new narrower range of overall weapon damage.

  • Hammer Side Light: Decreased Damage from a range of 19~17 to a range of 18~16.
  • Hammer Neutral Air: Decreased Damage from 22 to 20.
  • Hammer Side Air: Decreased Damage from a range of 22~20 to a range of 20~18.

Katars

We have increased the Damage of Katars Neutral Light and Down Light to bring this weapon closer in line with the new narrower range of overall weapon damage.

  • Katars Neutral Light: Increased Damage from 11 to 12.
  • Katars Down Light: Increased Damage from 9 to 11.

  • Orb Down Light: Increased total Recover time on miss from 3 Fixed/18 Variable to 5 Fixed/18 Variable.

  • Rocket Lance Neutral Air: Increased Stun at the end of the Hit Window from a range of 27~24 to a range of 29~26.

Scythe

We have increased the Recover time on miss of Scythe Neutral Light to allow for easier punishes on this versatile attack. We have also decreased the Damage of Active Input Side Light, Down Light, Neutral Air, and Down Air to bring this weapon’s expected rate of damage closer in line with the new narrower range of overall weapon damage.

  • Scythe Neutral Light: Increased total Recover time on miss from 6 Fixed/20 Variable to 8 Fixed/20 Variable.
  • Scythe Side Light: Decreased Damage of the Active Input version from 15 to 13.
  • Scythe Down Light: Decreased Damage of the normal version from 15 to 13; Decreased Damage of the Active Input version from 16 to 14.
  • Scythe Neutral Air: Decreased Damage of all versions from 14 to 13.
  • Scythe Down Air: Decreased Damage of all versions from 14 to 13.

Unarmed

We have decreased the Damage of Unarmed Neutral Light and Down Air to create more of a separation between the new range of weapon damage and Unarmed’s expected rate of damage.

  • Unarmed Neutral Light: Decreased Damage from 14 to 12.
  • Unarmed Down Air: Decreased maximum Damage from 16 to 10.

Azoth

Kaya

We have decreased the Force of Kaya’s Side Bow and Down Bow to bring their knockout power closer in line with similar options on other Legends. We have also increased the Minimum Charge time of Kaya’s Side Bow to allow for easier interruptions or evasion against this Signature.

  • Ragnir Down Axe: Increased Force from 75 Fixed/58 Variable to 78 Fixed/59 Variable.

Ransom

Ransom’s Neutral Chakram would often do relatively low Damage when connecting from a distance, so we have focused more of the Damage into the final explosion and slightly increased the total value to align with other similar anti-air Signatures. Ransom’s Side Chakram now has significantly less Force and greater Recover time to bring both the risk and reward to more appropriate levels for its utility.

  • Ransom Neutral Chakram: Increased maximum total Damage from 25 to 27 and focused more of the Damage into the final explosion.
  • Ransom Side Chakram: Decreased Force from 55 Fixed/47 Variable to 50 Fixed/43 Variable; Increased total Recover time from 20 to 22.

  • Red Raptor Neutral Boots: Decreased Force from 50 Fixed/49 Variable to 50 Fixed/47 Variable.

Reno

Reno’s Down Blasters and the aerial version of Down Orb now have much greater Force to better match their required precision and overall risk.

  • Reno Down Blasters: Increased Force from 55 Fixed/44 Variable to 60 Fixed/49 Variable.
  • Reno Down Orb: Increased Force of the aerial version from 58 Fixed/46 Variable to 58 Fixed/48 Variable.

Teros

Vector

Vector’s Neutral Bow would often do low Damage when hitting from a distance, so we have increased the Damage and focused most of it into the final hit to bring the minimum Damage to a more reasonable level. We have also increased the Force for better knockout power on this anti-air attack.

  • Vector Neutral Bow: Increased Force from 54 Fixed/50 Variable to 54 Fixed/52 Variable; Increased Damage from 24 to 25 and focused most of the Damage into the final hit.

Vivi

Vivi’s Neutral Boots now has less threat coverage at the rear of the attack, no longer hitting grounded opponents during the initial rear lift. We have also increased the Recover time for Vivi’s Down Boots to allow for easier punishes against its variable duration and direction.

  • Vivi Neutral Boots: Decreased threat coverage at the rear of the attack.
